Free Dental Care Brings Back Smiles
Samaritan Dental clinic is here to help uninsured adults whose household incomes fall below 200% of the Federal poverty level. If you’ve ever had a toothache and couldn’t get in to see a dentist right away, you now have a glimpse of the long-term pain many of our clients endure. The difference is, most insured adults are able to see a dentist within a day or two when there is an emergency while uninsured adults may wait months or even years living in pain. We are the only full-service charitable dental clinic in Northwest Arkansas.
Serving uninsured adults who cannot afford to purchase dental care, our clinic utilizes both volunteer and staff dentists and hygienists to provide a full range of dental services to our patients.
Restorative Program
When a patient is initially scheduled in our clinic for the restorative program, they receive a comprehensive exam by our staff dentist who then develops an oral treatment plan specific to that patient’s needs. Follow-up appointments are then scheduled to complete restorative care, extractions, and cleanings as needed. Patients continue to receive dental hygiene and dental check-up appointments for two years following completion of restorative services.
Evening Dental Clinic Specializing In Acute Pain
Appointments for our evening clinics are scheduled one month in advance. Once scheduled for an evening appointment a patient will be seen by a volunteer dentist for an exam and x-ray. Treatment or services will be provided at the time of appointment. The purpose of evening clinic is to educate the patient on their current dental issues that can cause acute pain and to determine if a tooth/teeth needs removal.

HOW TO GET INVOLVED
Volunteer Professionals
Each year our clinic provides nearly $650,000 in free dental care to the Northwest Arkansas community. This would not be possible without a large number of volunteer dental professionals including dentists and hygienists.
Current volunteer needs in our Dental Clinic include:
- Volunteer Dentist – with a current Arkansas Dental License
- Volunteer Dental Assistant – with a current Arkansas Dental Assistant’s License
- Volunteer Receptionist – must have dental office experience and knowledge of dental terminology
Volunteer opportunities are available both for daytime and evening clinics. Hours available may be varied based on the availability of support staff. Volunteer inquires can contact DeAnna Shannon at dshannon@samcc.org.
