BackPacks for Kids Day is Saturday, August 2, 2014!
BackPacks for Kids provides thousands of new backpacks filled with grade-appropriate school supplies to area children going into K-12 each year, in late summer, before the start of the new school year. SCC has provided this service for 15 years and each year the need grows.
With the help of the United Way of NWA, KLRC-FM, Rogers' Chick-fil-A restaurants, area churches and local businesses who host school supply drives, SCC plans to distribute 3300+ backpacks this coming Saturday, August 2 through our centers in Rogers and Springdale, and at the Gravette Church of Christ and Round Mountain Community Church in Fayetteville. Vouchers for free backpacks will be distributed through our Market pantry during regular pantry hours from July 1-24.
SCC’s BackPacks for Kids Day is an exciting back-to-school community kick-off event. In addition to backpacks, kids at all locations receive free haircuts or vouchers for free haircuts, free lunch and drinks, and are treated to numerous fun activity booths hosted by local churches, Walmart vendors and local businesses.
SCC estimates that more than 500 churches, vendors, local businesses and individual community volunteers come together each year to make BackPacks for Kids Day a success.
