Samaritan Community Center has become a vital resource to people in Northwest Arkansas experiencing economic, emotional and spiritual distress. Thus we established our Care Program around our vision statement of encouraging all who enter our doors to find hope and experience positive life change. "We focus on meeting each client just where they are," says Martha, Samaritan Care Team member. "So many of our clients do not have a support system such as a healthy family dynamic or a church home. We are here to primarily offer encouragement and a listening ear, something that so many of these families need."
Samaritan Care includes our Care Advocacy/Case Management and Counseling areas.
Our Care Advocacy/Case Management services, available to all SCC clients, offer prayer and encouragement with a social worker, detailed information for other resources within the community, and assistance with completion of paperwork.
By incorporating social workers into our organization, we are able to care for the whole individual. Visiting with one of our social workers not only provides clients with tools, but also allows them to feel heard and understood. "It is a privilege to be able to listen to someone's story. I pray that they feel seen, heard, cared for, and valued," says Kayla, Samaritan Care social worker.
Our Counseling services offer confidential counseling, utilizing college interns who are working toward master's and doctoral degrees in counseling. These interns work under the direct supervision of a Licensed Professional Counselor/Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist contracted by SCC. We offer counseling in English and Spanish (when Spanish-speaking interns are available), and our services are open to individuals of all ages (children, adolescents and adults), couples, and families.
Samaritan Care counselors often use play therapy techniques in sessions with younger children to invite them into a relationship in which he or she can make changes in a nonthreatening, nurturing environment.
Will you partner with us in providing these life-giving services free of charge to our client families?
A one-time gift of $50 provides one mental health counseling session. A recurring monthly gift of $25 provides case management services to five client families.
