Be Someone’s Hero! Be a Hunger Hero!
Did you know…. 1 out of every 5 NWA children face hunger or food insecurity on a regular basis?
Did you know…. 38,181 NWA students receive free lunch through the Federal school lunch program?
Did you know…. Over 6,000 NWA students in 160 schools receive a SCC SnackPack each Friday to help insure that they no longer face hunger or food insecurity on the weekends?
With the NWA economy strong, it is sometimes difficult to understand how hunger and poverty could be as widespread as it is in our community. Low-skill jobs coupled with high housing costs create a situation where many working families have difficulty making ends meet. They often have to choose between food and shelter or between medicine and utilities.
How can you help? Become a Hunger Hero by making a monthly financial commitment to the Samaritan Community Center. Your donation will help purchase food for our SnackPacks for Kids program which incurs food costs of approximately $12,000 per week. It is simple and easy to do! We can draft your bank account or charge your credit card each month on the 10th or 25th.
To become a Hunger Hero, download our Monthly Donation Form or call the office and speak with our Accounting Coordinator, Rachel Petree to join us in our fight against hunger right here in NWA! For only $10 per month (less than a gourmet cup of coffee each week), you can insure that one child right here in NWA no longer has to worry if there will be food to eat this weekend.
